NAKHCHIVAN CHOCHA (PIE WITH WALNUT AND ONION)

Dough:
1 kg flour
350 g butter
2 eggs
2 tsp. dry yeast
2 tsp. powdered sugar
1 tsp. salt
1.5 tbsp. milk

Ingredients:
450 g walnuts
2 onions
salt
pepper
turmeric

Topping:
1 egg

Preparation:
Mix 2 tsp. powdered sugar and yeast in half a glass of warm milk. Let stand for 15 minutes.

Melt the butter and cool. Knead the dough by adding salt, butter, eggs, the yeast dissolved in the milk, and the rest of the milk to the flour. If necessary, you can increase the amount of milk a little. The dough should not be too stiff. Cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 2 hours.

Filling: Finely chop the onions and fry in butter until golden brown, then add the turmeric. Grind the walnuts, mix with salt, pepper, and fried onions.

Take 50 gram balls from the dough. Then, starting from the first ball, flatten them, put 1 tsp of filling in them, and fold them like a sugar cookie.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the balls with a distance between them, and prick each one with a fork in several places. Brush the top with egg and place in a 200 degree oven. Bake until golden brown.

Enjoy!
