UZBEK BAZAARS

For a thousands of year, the Great Silk Road was a link between Asia and the Mediterranean. One of the main goals of the caravan route was the export of silk and various spices from China and Asia to Europe, which explains the name of the route. When the caravan arrived, a real festival began in the city. Everyone went to the main square for valuable purchases to buy silk for new dresses, to acquire jewelry, dealers were in a hurry to get new goods. A real oriental bazaar began. Traveling a long way through the desert, the caravans stopped in blooming oases. Thus large trade cities grew in Uzbekistan. Residents of sunny Uzbekistan still love to buy food at large bazaars. We can say that bazaars are an integral part of unique Uzbek culture. There is even a proverb “Otang-bozor, onang-bozor”, it means “your father is bazaar, as well as your mother is bazaar”. Visiting Uzbekistan, do not miss the opportunity to visit such iconic Tashkent bazaars as “Chorsu”(9th-13th centuries), “Alay bazaar”(12th-13th centuries). In Samarkand – “Siab Bazaar”, where you can buy famous Samarkand bread, fresh dairy products, odorous spices and etc. in Bukhara there is a “Trading domes” bazaar(16th century), where you can acquire iconic Bukhara jewelry, headdressess, carpets. Through caravans do not exist any longer, and the goods are sent by different routes, Uzbekistan remains faithful to its traditions.
